Daniele Monti is a Maggerino (singer-actor) and author of epic Maggi (a form of folk opera traditionally performed in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines) connected to the Maggio company of Costabona, a small village within the mountainous town of Villa Minozzo in the province of Reggio Emilia. His Maggi tend to abandon the more common epic framework of antagonistic groups representing good and evil in order to focus on the inordinate craving for power on the part of one or more unscrupulous individuals.
