José Eduardo Agualusa (Alves da Cunha) (1960-) is an Angolan journalist and writer, born in Huambo. Author of a vast body of literature, his works include novels, short stories, dramatic texts, children's literature and poetry translated into more than thirty languages. Among his many awards are the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize for his 2007 novel O Vendedor de Passados (published in English as The Book of Chameleons), a 2016 finalist for the Man Booker International Prize for Teoria Geral do Esquecimento (published in English as General Theory of Oblivion) and winner of the 2017 International Dublin Literary Award.
