Aldo Palazzeschi, pen name of Aldo Giurlani, was one of the most prominent Italian novelists and poets of the twentieth century. His name is often associated with that of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, founder of the avant-garde Futurist movement. Palazzeschi joined the Futurists as early as 1910, remaining in their ranks until April of 1914. Already well-known to the Italian readership, Palazzeschi attained even greater notoriety when his most successful novel, Sorelle Materassi [The Sisters Materassi, 1934], was made into a film in 1944 and a TV series in 1972.
